Biography
I'm a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic, the first and oldest of the 16 chiropractic colleges in the country. A native Ohioan, I have been in practice for 16 years and was recently with the Ohio State University Office of Integrative Medicine. I have advanced training in clinical nutrition, nutritional therapy, clinical neurology, applied neurology, ergonomic instruction and industrial applications of chiropractic.
A father of four and a grandfather of nine, I like to think of myself as a "family physician." All my grandchildren have been under my care since the day they were born, and all of my children see me on a regular basis; this keeps them healthy and functioning at their best.
What We Do
At Columbus Natural Health Center we care about your health as if you were a member of our family, which translates into more than just treating your symptoms. In my 16 years of practice I have learned that it takes a comprehensive program of healthcare to bring people to a level where they don't have to fear sickness and can enjoy total health.
To accomplish this, I combine the non-invasive, non-drug treatment of nutritional therapy, supplemented with chiropractic, acupuncture, exercise, massage therapy and energy therapy. That amazing structure we carry around every day, called a body, must be looked at in totality, and the reason we have symptoms must be addressed. Suppressing symptoms doesn't get you well, and my mission is to GET YOU WELL, AND TEACH YOU HOW TO STAY WELL. This is my mission to my patients.
What to Expect
Here at Columbus Natural Health Center, your first visit will be a comprehensive exam of your health status, neuro-musculoskeletal function and nutritional status all aimed at formulating a comprehensive health plan to get you well without using synthetic chemicals (drugs) or invasive procedures (surgery). If indicated, we will do a laboratory analysis of your blood and an x-ray study. Also, we will perform a computerized assessment of your nutritional status and needs and a procedure called the Nutritional Response Test (NRT). Click the link for more information. NRT is based on the body's neurological reflexes and the centuries-old Chinese system of acupuncture, which I will explain in detail.
After I have reviewed all of your information and analyzed the results, I will formulate a customized treatment program (Designed Clinical Nutrition) for you and present it at your next visit in a "report of findings." At that time, we will review your condition and the nutritional supplementation you will need. Also, we will review your food diary and address any modifications you might need to make, as well as what we are going to accomplish with your current program. You will also need to attend a nutritional class to assist in changing your lifestyle.

"Our objective is to fully explain the Nutritional Response Program and Designed Clinical Nutrition so you will feel confident that your body will heal when you begin your program."

At no time will we diagnose or treat disease or advise you to stop taking any medication.
What is NRT?

NRT = Nutrition Response Testing
|
Human anatomy has not changed significantly in thousands of years. Over this time Chinese physicians have, as part of their acupuncture treatment, mapped out the body points that refer to all the organs, tissues, functions and systems of the body. Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) is a form of applied kinesiology. It is an example of how those reflexes on the body relate to the state of health and the flow of energy in every organ and system in the human body. Testing these reflexes gives me a system of examining and monitoring your body initially and at each visit that has proven to be extremely accurate clinically. This helps me to identify the nutritional needs of the body and how well they are being met. It even allows me to prioritize what weakness is most significant.
Designed Clinical Nutrition
Designed Clinical Nutrition is exactly that. Using NRT, I scan the body to determine specific weaknesses. Using this, I can determine which whole food supplements will strengthen the body. With this knowledge, I design or redesign a plan to support your body with the needed nutrition.
What Our Patients Say
Here's what a few of our current and prior patients have to say about the programs at Columbus Natural Health Center.
- "I have had digestive troubles as long as I can remember. I thought it was normal to have a bowel movement every other or third day. Since coming to Columbus Natural Health Center and following the nutritional program customized for me, I now have regular bowel movements daily. I have more energy and my digestive problems have gone away."
Mary F.
- "I had forgotten what it was like to breathe easily. This has been a problem for so long, I can't remember when I didn't have it. I wouldn't think of going off my program."
Kathy J.
- "I hadn't slept for more than 1 or 2 hours straight for over three years. I was constantly tired and raising four children was a real challenge. After two weeks on my program, I slept for four hours straight, and a few nights later I slept for 6 hours straight. Thank you, Dr. Lewis. I am beginning to enjoy life again."
